Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Konica Minolta introduces the Infinium S, its next generation star projector.
The Infinium S can be combined with digital projectors, and is capable of synchronization with any other type projection and sound via SMPTE time code.
The Infinium S planetarium projector provides the smallest, sharpest, brightest stars ever created. All the star projections, Milky Way and deep sky objects are precision, laser cut artworks, powered by light valve technology and optically projected through diffraction-limited lenses. Sounds like a mouth…umm…eyefull! The motions of these projectors, as well as the light sources, are manually controlled to be user friendly with a graphical interface.
It is said Infinium S projects with such precision and realism that you can actually use binoculars in the planetarium for a closer view, just as if you were outside under the night sky. Faint stars can also be seen in the planetarium - like seeing the stars from space.
The 23 brightest stars projected by the Infinium S, each have their very own individual projectors. The projector even provides views from another planet. Stars even twinkle!
Using laser drilled plates, optical fibers and precision optics, the Infinium S creates some of the most realistic stars you will ever see.
The First Infinum S in the USA will be used at De Anza College in Cupertino, California. Shows will run Saturday nights from October 13, 2007

The Clouds are mentioned in the Bible 153 times and in the Quran nine times, i.
e., the Bible cites the Clouds 17 times more than the Quran does.
Furthermore, the total words of the Bible are 788,280 while the total words of the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible has the likely of more than 10 times than the Quran word-wise to talk about the Clouds. In addition, the Bible has the prospective of more than 17 times than the Quran topic-wise to utter about the Clouds.

The Clouds in Quran
Many Scientific tips in one verse:
Surah 2:164
Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the Night and the Day; in the sailing of the ships through the Ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts (creatures )of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth, (here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.
In this verse, many Scientific tips are mentioned as signs for the wise people e.g.:
Allah created the heavens and the earth
Allah made alternation of the Night and the Day
Allah causes the sailing of the ships through the Ocean
Allah sends the rain down from the sky.
Allah gives the life to the dead earth.
Allah generates the creatures and scatters them through the earth
Allah makes changes of the winds
The clouds between sky and the earth are obey Allah’s will.
There is no verse in the entire Bible that gives all of these meanings at a time.
There are scientific and theological correlation between clouds, rain, and the dead land and the revival of dead people.
Surah 7:57
It is He Who sendeth the Winds like heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy: when they have carried the heavy-laden clouds, We drive them to a land that is dead, make rain to descend thereon, and produce every kind of harvest therewith ; Similarly We Shall raise up the dead perchance ye may remember.
Herein we have the sequences of events that are cloud, rain, dead land, and life of the dead land. The One who is capable to do this is in turn capable to raise up the dead man for the Day of Judgment.
The Quran is almost always reminding us with the afterlife.
This deep and important theological issue is not mentioned in the Bible.
The Wind fertilize the clouds.
Surah 30:48
It is Allah Who sends the Winds, and they raise the Clouds: then does He spread them in the sky as He wills, and break them into fragments, until thou seest rain-drops issue from the midst thereof: then when He has made them reach such of His servants as He wills, behold, they do rejoice!
Surah 13:12
It is He Who doth show you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope: it is He Who doth raise up the clouds, heavy with (fertilizing) rain!
Surah 15:22
And We send the winds fertilizing, then send down water from the cloud therewith providing you with water (in abundance) to drink, though ye are not the guardians of its stores.
These verses (30:48, 13:12 and 15:22) talk about the fertilized clouds. It was after the revelation of the Quran by 1300 years that Meteorologists discovered that clouds are negatively and positively charged. It is the role of the wind (as the Quran stated) to fertilize the clouds and leading then to rain.
The Unbelievers thinking is like many layers of darkness over each other.
Surah 24:40
Or (the Unbelievers’ state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it! For any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!
The Scientific relation between clouds, hail and lightning.
Surah 24:43
Seest thou not that Allah makes the clouds move gently, and then joins them together, then makes them into a heap (stack)? then wilt thou see rain issue forth from their midst. And He sends down from the sky mountain masses (of clouds) wherein hail is: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He Turns it away from whom He pleases. The vivid flash of His lightning well-nigh blinds the sight (nearly blinds the sight).
Meteorologists explore the details of cloud formation, structure, and function by using sophisticated equipments like planes, satellites, computers, balloons, etc. in order to study wind and its direction, to measure humidity and its variations, and to determine the levels and variations of atmospheric pressure.
The preceding verse, after mentioning clouds and rain, speaks about hail and lightning. Meteorologists have found that these cumulonimbus clouds, that shower hail, reach a height of 25,000 to 30,000 ft (4.7 to 5.7 miles) like mountains, as the Quran said, “…And He sends down hail from mountains (clouds) in the sky…”
This verse says “its lightning” in a reference to the hail? This means that hail is the major factor in producing lightning. Meteorologists today say that a cloud becomes electrified as hail falls through a region in the cloud of super cooled droplets and ice crystals. As liquid droplets collide with a hailstone, they freeze on contact and release latent heat. This keeps the surface of the hailstone warmer than that of the surrounding ice crystals. When the hailstone comes in contact with an ice crystal, an important phenomenon occurs: electrons flow from the colder object toward the warmer object. Thus, the hailstone becomes negatively charged. The same effect occurs when super cooled droplets come in contact with a hailstone and tiny splinters of positively charged ice break off. These lighter positively charged particles are then carried to the upper part of the cloud by updrafts. The hail, left with a negative charge, falls towards the bottom of the cloud, thus the lower part of the cloud becomes negatively charged. These negative charges are then discharged as lightning. It may be concluding from this that hail is the major factor in producing lightning. This information about lightning given by the Quran was only discovered after the revelation of the Quran by 1300 years.
Back to the main issue of my series of articles; this is my question to you smart readers: “Is the Quran quoted from the Bible and which book preceded the sciences”?

Gold has been admired and vehemently sought throughout history, though its evident natural beauty is only one of the characteristics that have made this rare precious metal an attractive commodity transcending geography and time.
Its stability, electrical conductivity and resistance to rust and corrosion make gold an integral component of computers and many other types of electrical equipment. Gold is also widely used in dentistry, art, the aerospace industry, the medical field and as currency. Gold’s malleability, distinctive luster and historical significance across cultures perhaps explain why its most popular use today is the crafting of gold jewelry. But where does this all too familiar metal come from?
Gold is an element which occurs naturally within the earth, though its true scientific origin is a matter of dispute among geologists. Gold is mined in various locations throughout the world, with the most abundant supply originating in the Republic of South Africa. Gold intended for commercial purposes is mined from one of the two types of deposits: lode deposits and placer deposits. Lode deposits, also called vein deposits, are deposits of gold ore collected within “veins,” or cracks in rocks. Placer deposits exist in sediment or unconsolidated rock, and commonly form when gold from a lode deposit is exposed to a process such as weathering, transported by water and trapped in deposits. The type of deposit in which gold is found determines the mining method that is used to collect it.
After gold is mined, it must be refined before it is ready to be crafted into products such as wedding bands, eternity rings and electronic products. Though most gold is in its pure form in nature, it often exists in the form of tiny flakes mixed with other substances that must be removed to reveal the pure gold. Rarely is a piece of gold in nature large enough to be seen by the naked eye. Impurities can be removed in several ways during the refining process.
Due to the softness of pure gold, jewelry is often crafted using a gold alloy, which is gold mixed with other metals. The “karat” measurement of gold represents the amount of pure gold in a piece, with 24 karat representing pure gold. A piece of jewelry designated as “14 karat gold,” for instance, is comprised of fourteen parts gold, and ten parts other metal.
Despite its omnipresence throughout history, gold remains a valuable natural resource that is still highly regarded today. Governments throughout the world currently maintain reserves of gold worth billions of dollars.

Fossil fuels are responsible for providing the energy needed worldwide for many household and industrial purposes today. Deposits of fossil fuels are found throughout the world deep inside the earth.
Fossil fuels are the carbon rich remains of ancient vegetation and other organisms that have endured intense heat and pressure inside the earth over periods of millions of years. Severe heat and pressure over time convert these organic remains into fossil fuels, which collect in reservoirs that are sought after by oil focused companies such as Western Pipeline Corporation as well as investors for extraction. Though quite a few types of fossil fuels exist, here we examine three main types that are widely utilized for energy production and many other products: petroleum, coal and natural gas.
-Petroleum: Also called crude oil, the term petroleum encompasses multiple types of hydrocarbons, which are compounds consisting primarily of hydrogen and carbon but possibly containing other elements as well. Petroleum forms mainly from marine vegetation and bacteria that lived in the oceans or other saltwater environments millions of years ago. Petroleum deposits are often found in the same locations as natural gas, each of which can be extracted for energy production. Petroleum is used in the production of plastic and medications among many other products.
-Coal: Coal forms from plants such as ferns, moss and trees which lived near shorelines and in swamps and bogs millions of years ago. When these plants die, they are slowly covered with sediment and over time pressed deep into the earth where they are affected by mounting heat and pressure. Under these conditions, the organic matter becomes richer in carbon and hydrogen, and increasingly deprived of oxygen. Coal goes through various stages of development based on its increasing carbon content, and coal containing higher levels of carbon burns cleaner than those with lower levels. The purest form of coal is graphite, which consists almost entirely of carbon.
-Natural Gas: Natural gas forms mainly from the remains of plankton, or a type of small water organisms including algae. Consisting mostly of methane, natural gas is often found on top of deposits of petroleum due to its lower density, and is extracted in the same process. However, deposits containing only natural gas do exist. Natural gas is desirable in part because it burns cleaner than coal and petroleum. Natural gas is commonly used in residential applications for home heating and has a myriad of other applications.

Researchers are working on new technology that will be able to do hydrolysis of cellulosic biomass to sugars and lignins and also the thermochemical conversion of biomass to synthesis gas for fermentation and catalysis of these platform chemicals to produce slates of biopolymers and fuels.
To expand the role of biomass in America’s future, the DOE Office of the Biomass Program fosters biomass technologies with a balanced portfolio of research and development. the following graphic shows the technology and anticipated process that the Biomass Program is concentrating on.
Biomass Feedstocks
The feedstocks are essentially the plant and plant-based material that are used to produce biomass energy. Currently, this consists mostly of easily processed agricultural crops and low- or negative-cost industrial residues. Future plans focus more on the use of agricultural and forestry residues. These can be used not just for power, but also for production of fuel, chemicals, and materials. Research is being done now to improve the collection, transportation and harvesting of these residues. It is estimated that there is about 512 million dry tons of biomass that is now available for less than $50 per dry ton. One of the major problems, however, is collecting and transporting the biomass. U.S. scientists are focusing on solving these problems with current and planned research. These feedstocks are then converted into either sugars or thermochemicals.
Sugar and Thermochemical Platforms
Most plant material is made up of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Biomass Program is at the forefront of a national effort to develop technology to break cellulose and hemicellulose down into their component sugars. Anticipated biorefineries will then be able to biologically process these sugars to fuel ethanol or other building block chemicals. Lignin can either be burned to provide process heat and electricity or can itself be converted to fuels and chemicals.
Possibly the oldest way of converting biomass to energy was burning wood. Unfortunately burning wood is not very efficient. If this solid biomass is converted to liquid or gas before combustion, the process becomes much more efficient. This conversion is achieving by heating the biomass (wood in this example) with oxygen. Not only is the efficiency increased, but the biomass can alternately produce chemicals or materials. American researchers are hard at work perfecting this process.
Products
Renewable biobased products (bioproducts) are products created from plant- or crop-based resources such as agricultural crops and crop residues, forestry, pastures. Currently these bioproducts are created using petroleum, due to the hydrocarbons that exist in petroleum. If bioproducts were produced with biomass materials carbohydrates, proteins, and plant oils would be used instead of the hydrocarbons. Regardless of which are used, many products are produced in this manner. Some examples are paint, drugs, plastics, and solvents. With the continuous decrease of petroleum resources, it is becoming imperative to manufacture an increasing amount of these products with the plant and crop based materials. Today they account for about 5% of the bioproducts produced. It is estimated that about 12.4 billion pounds of biobased products are produced with renewable resources per year, out of the hundreds of billions of pounds that are produced each year. This discrepancy and the limited amount of petroleum reserves for the United States show that the potential for renewable bioproducts is basically limitless.
Biorefineries
In addition to reducing dependence on foreign oil, fostering a domestic biorefinery industry modeled after petrochemical refineries is a primary objective of the Biomass Program. Existing industries such as wet-mill corn processing and pulp and paper mills fit the multiple-products-from-biomass definition of a biorefinery, but the goal is to foster new industries converting lignocellulosic biomass into a wide range of products, including ones that would otherwise be made from petrochemicals. As with petrochemical refineries, the vision is that the biorefinery would produce both high-volume liquid transportation fuel (meeting national energy needs) and high-value chemicals or products (enhancing operation economics).
Possibilities for the Future
It has recently been announced that a $50 million biodiesel manufacturing plant will be built in North Dakota. It will be the largest plant of its kind in the United States, and produce about 100,000 tons of biodiesel each year.
Biomass is produced here in the United States rather than being imported from overseas. Since it is produced at home, new jobs will be created, and the agricultural market will be improved. The rural American economy will also receive a much-needed boost. As mentioned, increased biofuel production means reduced dependency on foreign oil. Also the use of toxic fuel additives is totally avoided. An increased role for biomass in America’s energy landscape is an intriguing idea, and probably a good one. It can help to conserve what little fossil fuels we have left, while at the same time avoiding all the pollution problems that fossil fuels give us. The fields that biomass crops could use now lie fallow because of the decreased role of farming in today’s economy. Biomass can revive the economy in rural areas. Unlike solar and wind power, these crops are not a sore spot in the landscape. Opponents of hydroelectric power claim that it disrupts the river environment, killing fish and marine plants alike. This problem does not exist with biomass. Biomass is quite possibly the best renewable source of energy this country has, and that is reflected by the fact that it has become the leading source of renewable energy in this new millennium.

Most experts expected the bald eagle to become extinct during the 20th century, but this American symbol has since reversed its decline and begun to recover.
The bald eagle was found to be endangered in 1940 and a law was passed, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, to protect it from hunting. After the eagle no longer had to worry about hunting, the numbers continued to decline due to the pesticide DDT. The bald eagle’s numbers were down to only 417 pairs in the U.S. in 1963, and the species was put on the endangered species list in 1973.
Far from the expected extinction of the treasured national symbol, the bald eagle has since made a dramatic recovery. The bald eagle is no longer listed as an endangered species thanks to the nearly 10,000 pairs that roam the American skies. Experts, however, will not be leaving the bald eagle completed alone. For another five years, or more, the bald eagle will continue to be tracked and watched for any decline. The monitoring will enable the research community to be aware of any changes in numbers, and for inclusion into the endangered species list if necessary.
Even without being reclassified as endangered, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act is still there to keep the animal from being hunted. There is also protection afforded to the eagles from an act passed in 1918- the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The act was passed to protect migratory birds, such as the bald eagle, in other countries that share birds with the U.S. due to migration. For eagles that make their way into Canada or Mexico, the treaty is in effect in those countries to stop the trade of eagle feathers, eggs and other parts that could make the hunting of eagles lucrative.
Since DDT was banned in 1972, bald eagles have enjoyed further protection from decline. DDT caused a serious decline in bald eagle numbers, becoming a major contributor to the species near extinction. This chemical eventually made its way from the waterways and into the eagles. The fish in these waterways became contaminated and were then eaten by bald eagles. The chemical then affected the eagles by keeping them from producing the hard shells needed to protect the baby eagles until it was time to hatch. The havoc wreaked by DDT made it difficult for the species to reproduce as mother eagles cracked their own thin eggs in an attempt to incubate them. With DDT now gone, the number of bald eagles can continue to grow.

What we interpret as sound is actually a collection of systematic vibrations which travel from molecule to molecule through practically any medium. If you have ever been to an indoor rock concert, you have probably physically felt these vibrations as they traveled through the molecules in the floor and resonated from all of the surfaces in the arena.
When a sound wave travels through the air and reaches your ear, the eardrum vibrates at the same resonance as the sound wave, and the resulting energy is interpreted by the brain as sound. The intensity of sound reaching your ear, the background noise in a crowded room and the vibrations you feel at a rock concert are all results of the behavior of sound waves. Let us take a look at some characteristics of sound wave behavior in order to gain a better understanding of the sounds we hear every day.
Any source of sound, whether it is a person talking, a drum beat or a clock ticking, produces vibrations, which create the fluctuations in the atmosphere known as sound waves. Not actually waves, the vibrations which make up sound waves travel over distance and time and through most any medium. Though it may be tempting to assume that noise would be contained within the four walls of a standard room, the walls, ceiling and floor actually serve as ideal means through which sound vibrations can travel. In fact, sound travels about nineteen times faster through drywall than it does through air!
Imagine for a moment the behavior of a set of racked billiard balls as they are struck by a cue ball on the break. As the cue ball strikes the front ball, energy transfers from ball to ball, resulting in their movement. This structure borne transfer of energy mirrors the behavior of sound waves as vibrations travel among the molecules in a molecular structure.
When sound waves traveling through air reach a denser medium, such as a wall, some of the energy will pass through the wall structure into the adjoining room, while the balance of the wave will reflect off of the structure and remain within the room. Sound energy passing to the next room is sound transmission, and energy reflecting back into the room is called sound reflection. When you are in a crowded room and must raise the level of your voice in order to be heard, you are actually speaking louder to overcome the jumble of sound reflections caused by other voices and sounds within the room. Sound reflection is the reason many restaurants and other establishments implement sound reduction treatments aimed at the absorption of sound vibrations, resulting in less background noise and a more pleasant atmosphere.
Solutions supplied by companies specializing in sound reduction and soundproofing treatments are often aimed at containing sound waves within a desired area and reducing their ability to resonate and create unwanted background noise. It is advised to consult with a professional soundproofing company prior to attempting a soundproofing treatment in order to ensure that all variables of your application are considered.

Before dealing with the topic of “Woe” in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is compulsory to remember that the total words in the Bible are 788,280 while the total words in the Quran are 77,473.
It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. “Woe” is mentioned 104 times in the Bible and 34 times in the Quran, i.e. the Bible mentions “Woe” more than three times as does the Quran. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times (word-wise) and seven times (subject-wise) than the Quran to talk about “Woe”. The subject of “Woe” is too big, that it why it is classified into four parts, First, Who said Woe unto me?, Second, Nations that Deserve Woe ,Third part that is The Hypocrites who deserve Woe and this is the Fourth part that is the Evil Doers who Deserve Woes
The evil doers who deserve Woes in the Bible:
The Bible sets 14 strange ideas and six beautiful concepts. The strange ideas are: 1) Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter, 2) Woe unto him that saith unto his father, what begettest thou, 3) Woe to who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? And go to seek mixed wine, 4) Woe to him that is alone when he falleth, 5) Woe to the land, when the king is a child, and the princes eat in the morning!, 6) Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, 7) Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning,
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, 9) Woe unto him that gives his neighbor drink, 10) Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake, 11) Woe unto you that are rich!, 12) Woe unto you that are full!, 13) Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! And 14) the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
Jeremiah 50:27
Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: Woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.
Isaiah 45:10

The evil doers who deserve Woes in the Quran:
The Quran sets Two Scientific questions for the evil doers:1) Who create you? And 2) Who have made the interior of the earth a grave for both the living and the dead? We all know that the interior of the earth is a grave for the dead. However, the interior of the earth is a grave also for the livings! Do you know that one gram of the soil contains many millions of Living Bacteria? This is what the today sciences say! Also the Quran says that throughout the history, man used to mock every Messenger that Allah sent to them. Then the Quran cites: 1) Woe to the liars and falsehood-mongers who do not believe in the Day of Judgment and Justice! And in the Hell and Heavens! 2) Woe unto him that does not believe in the Quran because the Quran is the truth and is not a falsehood, and hence, 3) be ready for that Day!
Two Scientific questions:
1- Who create you?
Surah: 77, Verse: 20-24
[20] Have we not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?-
[21] The which we placed in a secure resting-place that is firmly fixed and well-protected,
[22] For an appointed term?
[23] For we do determine (according to need); for we are the best to determine (things).
[24] Woe on that day to those who belied it (reject the truth)!
2- Who have made the interior of the earth a grave for both the living and the dead?
We all know that the interior of the earth is a grave for the dead. However, the interior of the earth is a grave also for the livings! Do you know that one gram of the soil contains many millions of Living Bacteria? This is what the today sciences say! But the Quran preceded the Modern Sciences by more than 1400 years by stating this Statement!
Surah: 77, Verse: 25-28
[25] Have we not made the interior of the earth (as a place) a grave?
[26] For both the living and the dead?
[27] And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)?
[28] Woe on that day to those who belied it (reject the truth)!
————-
Throughout the history, man used to mock every Messenger that Allah sent to them.
Surah: 36, Verse: 30
Woe, for those (unbelieving) worshipers! They mocked every Messenger that came to them.
However, all the messengers are appointed a time, for a horrible day; Woe on that day to those who belied
Surah: 77, Verse: 11-15
[11] And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);-
[12] For what day are these (portents) deferred?
[13] For the day of decision! (sorting out).
[14] And what will explain to thee what the day of decision (sorting out) is!?
[15] Woe on that day to those who belied it (reject the truth)!
————-
Woe to the liars and falsehood-mongers who do not believe in the Day of Judgment and Justice! And in the Hell and Heavens!
Surah: 51, Verse: 10-14
[10] Woe to the liars (falsehood-mongers)
[11] Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion:
[12] They ask, “When will be the day of judgment and justice?”
[13] (It will be) a day when they will be tried (and tested) over the fire!
[14] “Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!”
Surah: 52, Verse: 11-14
[11] On that Day woe to those who belied
[12] Those that are in plunging, playing.
[13] The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell
[14] “this: it will be said, “is the fire,- which ye were wont to deny!
Surah: 46, Verse: 17
But (there is one) who says to his parents, “fie on you! Do ye hold out the promise to me that i shall be raised up, even though generations have passed before me (without rising again)?” and they two seek Allah’s aid, (and rebuke the son): “woe to thee! have faith! for the promise of Allah is true.” but he says, “this is nothing but tales of the ancients!”
——————–
Woe unto him that does not believe in the Quran
Surah: 45, Verse: 7-9
[7] Woe unto each sinful liar and guilty impostor.
[8] Who hears the communications of Allah recited to him, then persists proudly as though he had not heard them; so announce to him a painful punishment
[9] And when he comes to know of any of our communications (verses), he takes it for a jest; these it is that shall have abasing chastisement
The Quran is the truth and is not a falsehood.
Surah: 21, Verse: 18
No, We hurl truth at falsehood, and it shall conquer it, and see, falsehood vanishes. Woe to you for all you have described.
————-
Be ready for that Day!
Surah: 18, Verse: 48- 49
[48] And they will be marshalled before thy lord in ranks, (with the announcement), “now have ye come to us (bare) as we created you first: aye, ye thought we shall not fulfil the appointment made to you to meet (us)!”
[49] And the book (of deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein; they will say, “Ah! Woe to us! What a book is this! it leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof!” they will find all that they did, placed before them: and not one will thy lord treat with injustice.
Back to the main topic of my series of articles (1- 83); this is my question to you smart readers: “Is the Quran quoted from the Bible “? And which book preceded the Modern Sciences?

Wind energy is a converted form of solar energy. The sun’s radiation heats different parts of the earth at different rates—most notably during the day and night, but also when different surfaces (for example, water and land) absorb or reflect at different rates.
This in turn causes portions of the atmosphere to warm differently. Hot air rises, reducing the atmospheric pressure at the earth’s surface, and cooler air is drawn in to replace it. The result is wind.
Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains the energy of that motion — “kinetic energy.” Some portion of that energy can converted into other forms — mechanical force or electricity — that we can use to perform work.
How does wind energy work?
A wind energy system transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical or electrical energy that can be harnessed for practical use. Wind flows through turbines which create energy that can be used for electricity.
There are two basic designs of wind electric turbines: vertical-axis, or “egg-beater” style, and horizontal-axis (propeller-style) machines. Horizontal-axis wind turbines are most common today, constituting nearly all of the “utility-scale” (100 kilowatts, kW, capacity and larger) turbines in the global market.
The Future of Wind Energy
The U.S. wind energy industry turned in a solid performance in 2004, adding 389 megawatts (MW) of new generating equipment to the nationwide fleet, or enough to serve more than 100,000 average homes, according to AWEA.
How many homes can one megawatt of wind energy supply?
An average U.S. household uses about 10,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity each year. One megawatt of wind energy can generate between 2.4 million and 3 million kWh annually. Therefore, a megawatt of wind generates about as much electricity as 240 to 300 households use. It is important to note that since the wind does not blow all of the time, it cannot be the only power source for that many households without some form of storage system. The “number of homes served” is just a convenient way to translate a quantity of electricity into a familiar term that people can understand. (Typically, storage is not needed, because wind generators are only part of the power plants on a utility system, and other fuel sources are used when the wind is not blowing.)
How much energy can wind realistically supply to the U.S.?
Wind energy could supply about 20% of the nation’s electricity, according to Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratory, a federal research lab. Wind energy resources useful for generating electricity can be found in nearly every state.
U.S. wind resources are even greater, however. North Dakota alone is theoretically capable (if there were enough transmission capacity) of producing enough wind-generated power to meet more than one-third of U.S. electricity demand.
What is needed for wind to reach its full potential in the U.S.?
Consistent policy support
Over the past five years (1999-2003), the federal production tax credit has been extended twice, but each time Congress allowed the credit to expire before acting, and then only approved short durations. The PTC expired again December 31, 2003, and as of March 2004 had still not been renewed. These expiration-and-extension cycles inflict a high cost on the industry, cause large lay-offs, and hold up investments. Long-term, consistent policy support would help unleash the industry’s pent-up potential.
Nondiscriminatory access to transmission lines
Transmission line operators typically charge generators large penalty fees if they fail to deliver electricity when it is scheduled to be transmitted. The purpose of these penalty fees is to punish generators and deter them from using transmission scheduling as a “gaming” technique to gain advantage against competitors, and the fees are therefore not related to whether the system operator actually loses money as a result of the generator’s action. But because the wind is variable, wind plant owners cannot guarantee delivery of electricity for transmission at a scheduled time. Wind energy needs a new penalty system that recognizes the different nature of wind plants and allows them to compete on a fair basis.
New transmission lines
The entire transmission system of the wind-rich High Plains, which cover the central one-third of the U.S., needs to be extensively redesigned and redeveloped. At present, this system consists mostly of small distribution lines—instead, a series of new high-voltage transmission lines is needed to transmit electricity from wind plants to population centers. Such a redevelopment will be expensive, but it will also benefit consumers and national security, by making the electrical transmission system more reliable and by reducing shortages and price volatility of natural gas.
Transmission will be a key issue for the wind industry’s future development over the next two decades.
